Hi people!
Happy New Year everybody and to kick off this year we have some exciting Yugoslav Attacks:

Download PGN of January '10 Dragon Sicilian games

Solomon - Jones. Gawain annotates a Dragadorf of his own which seemed okay but then took a turn for the worse!

Severiukhina - Shcherbakov is an interesting delayed castles Yugoslav Attack that at one point appeared to leave White a little short on ideas:

Our 1 d4 d5 expert had just played 10...Rc8, a first for the site.

Konguvel - Le Quang Liem is a 13 Bg5 Soltis that sort of went back to Bh6 lines:

Check it out and you'll see what I mean!

Staying with the 9 Bc4 Yugoslav it's fair to say that although NguyenThi Tuong Van-Nguyen Duck Ho won't be tearing up any trees in the theory department, it carries some amusement value and the sidelines provide a chance to scrutinise recent Chinese Dragon encounters:

I've also annotated two Reinderman games this month. First up Swinkels - Reinderman tests Black a little more than recent games in the 9 0-0-0 d5 10 exd5 Nxd5 11 Nxc6 bxc6 12 Bd4 Bxd4 have:

I haven't seen the likes of Nyzhnyk - Reinderman for quite some time. I thought that White players had long since given up trying to get an advantage in this 9 g4 system ending:

and indeed it is Black who seemingly going full steam for the win, sacrifices the piece for the pawns in this exciting endgame.

Okay we'll be back soon. Bye for now.
