October '00 Update

Well not much sign of a Dragon in the K-K match but I'm off to the Olympiad today and I'm hopeful of seeing a new move or two there.
Regarding the one letter received this month, I take your point. I also take on board your comments about the b-pawn sac. I'm afraid my memory seems to be going a bit and I'll try to remember what it was I was going to add. Hopefully there will be such a 9 0-0-0 Nxd4 10 Bxd4 Be6 11 Kb1 Qc7 12 h4 Rfc8 13 g4 Qa5 14 Qg5 (14…b5) encounter in Istanbul that I can write about.
In the meantime this month you will find a possibly more critical "going it with the h-pawn" (13 h5 Qa5 14 hxg6) variation, see Rios - Clavijo.
In 9 0-0-0 d5, all the rage at the moment is for White to steal this d-pawn. Should he live to tell the tale? Well the jury is still out, but check out Gunnarsson - Salmansuu and its side notes.
More Yugoslav Attack is seen in the form of 9 Bc4 Bd7 the …Qa5 line with h4 and g4.

Having seen 13…Rc4 last month, this time there is a 13…Nc4 and a 13…b5.
