What's new in September 2002?

First up let me thank everyone that has written to me. In general I'm not supposed to reply directly although I might break that rule as often I can't remember whether or not I've answered a query. Anyway thanks for your kind words even if sometimes the subject matter does branch off of the beaten track! Oh and do write again if you think you've been ignored as I'm not doing it on purpose. I will post another grab-bag as soon as I have enough Dragon-related material.

All this month's new games are easily downloaded in PGN format using ChessPub.exe, but to download the September '02 Dragon Sicilian games directly in PGN form click here: Download Games

Well I've played another tournament and following last month's update I really did put my money where my mouth is in:

Felgaer-Ward: Yes, I repeated the Chinese variation against the highly rated Argentinean and put into practice a line I made up and promptly suggested last month.

Also here you will find:

Schmaltz-Voudis: A Re1 style Classical Dragon in which Black does a good job of trying to force the issue.

Peters-Garrett: White punishes a dubious move order in the 9 Bc4 Yugoslav Attack

Topalovic-Milu: A rare outing in the 9 Bc4 Yugoslav Attack with one of the old main lines.

Resika-Pert: A spot of trickiness in the usually quiet 6 Bc4 variation.

That's all for now folks. See you soon.
