Hello all my friends... welcome to the B90 to B99 Najdorf update. 10 h3 is still causing misery for black.

Checkout Shirov - Kasparov. The game was a draw but I believe white had better.

Jirovsky - Fajmov was unclear but black's King looked shaky.

In Zapata - Roehlich it looks like 10...Nf6 is the lesser of the evils. Nf5! is giving black fits.

Van Wely finally looks comfortable vs 6 Be3 with a nice win over McShane, see FED534.

We finish up with Short - Kasparov which was a hard fought draw. Enjoy and Happy Hunting.

The June B80 to 89 update sees some fresh ideas. But before I begin let me clear up some confusion. The Be3 vs the Najdorf seems to be both this and B90 to 99.

We start with a 6 Be3 e6 tripleheader all looking fine for black. Kasparov wipes Movesian out with an exchange sac, Teran Alvarez-Santa Torres sees white dodge the Rc3 sac but get nothing. In Pegoraro - Alexic white also proved nothing.

de Firmian-Fedorowicz sees black play an interesting idea and we round things out with A Hunt-Ftacnik.

The June B60 to 69 Rauser update sees 2 doubleheaders.

In FED519 Tukmakov overlooks a shot in a decent position and goes down in flames, and in FED520 he disposes of Orak in routine fashion.

The 2nd doubleheader is Dlugy. Max doesn't play that much anymore, but he is a real expert in the 8...h6 variation. FED521 was vintage Dlugy as he took care of Monokroussos. FED522 saw the strange ...Na5, but black got a good position anyway only to lose to a one mover.

In FED523 Svidler waxes Landenbergue after black plays ...h5 in what appears to be the wrong spot.

Enjoy!!

The June B40 to 49 update features 2 very different hedgehogs.

In Tissir - Kreiman black didn't pay attention and was obliterated. His ...g6 move caused the misery, but it's a crummy setup anyway.

The 2nd is another story. In Schott - Le bideau black's setup is one of the best, if not the best hedgehog. I'd play it anytime for black.

We end with yet another ...Qb6 Kan dealing out punishment in Braylovsky - Smirin.

Our June B54 to 59 update sees the usual lineup of Benko systems.

Klima - Cvek gave white less than nothing after 9 Bb5. White's N's were terrible.

In Mirumian - Manik black misplays the position and gets taken apart, while in Siraco - Krush white took the wait and see approach and saw the position drift away.

We finish with Hracek pulling some move order deal on Volcac, see FED516.

We round out June with the B32 to 33 Sveshnikov/Pelikan/Kalishnikov update with Socko losing to Krasenkov in the positional line, see FED511. It's hard to get any advantage vs Black's normal method.

In Fernandez - Annakov black triumphs with what else a ...Qb6 line.

And we finish up June with white getting a slight edge in Tselutin - Annageldyev.

Good Luck to all my chess friends!

Adios and see you in July.
