Greetings and welcome to the November update. Which King's Indian (or Old Indian) variations would you particularly like to see featured here? In addition to the annotated main games, there's plenty more in this update, including the usual selection of HOT games (without commentary or analysis).
Main Games
Classical
KID681 A typical counter. The impression that this is a solid position for Black remains.
KID682 A game to show the 6...Bg4 line is not so bad and deserves more attention.
KID700 In a long main line of the Bayonet White decides to station his proud Bishop on d7- will Black be able to play around the obstacle or not?...
Four Pawns
KID701 10 Nd2 is a move which has stood in the shadow of 10 e5 for a long, long time. Games like the following prove how dangerous 10 Nd2 can be to the unprepared player- yes and Grandmaster too!
Fianchetto
KID683 As I see it, this is a tough line for Black to play. Somehow, he has to CREATE pressure against White's rock-solid position and that is not at all easy.
Samisch
KID693 A rare line, where White tries to demonstrate that his position is fireproof and that he can unhurriedly expand on the Queenside. This is unlikely, when Black's coiled spring is about to comes to life with ...e7-e5.
Bg5 Systems
KID692 11 g4 is a move I like very much - it has a cramping influence on the whole Black position. It's difficult now for Ragozin to organize active play seeing ..f7-f5 deterred. Beliavsky enjoys considerable success with White's method.
Miscellaneous KID Lines
KID680 Seirawan likes the move 9 Bg5 in his pet variation. With it White tries to establish solid control.
KID704 What started life as a Benoni turns into one of the more insidious White systems against the King's Indian. But Black has to react energetically or he could be stamped on...
Old Indian
KID702 One of my better games- an exercise in patience. Don't play the Old Indian if you want attack from move one- soak it up and give it back is the recipe!!
