Experience 1 e4 e5 with Mr MO!
(Update no.37, October 2002)
Announcement
The e-pawn emperor's next e4-e5 'monthly update' (for November) will be posted at www.chesspublishing.com in December, and in the meantime he will, as always, reply personally to as many e-mail messages as possible which come to MrMo@ChessPublishing.com. Right now, though, on our Internet site there's a tasty new collection of fresh games with some sneaky embedded puzzles waiting to bring you endless hours of enjoyment in a juicy October update.

New Highlights
Tons of fresh mouth-watering goodies await us, including a bumper batch of six sizzling games (namely G13.127-G13.132) involving the Ruy Lopez and a super set of stars such as Jorg Blauert, Alexander Grischuk, Vassily Ivanchuk, Garry Kasparov, Shakhiyraz Mamedyarov, Judit Polgar, Nigel Short, Ivan Sokolov, Evgeny Vladimirov,... The brilliant lady in that group really rocked the opposition with 16 e6! shown in the following diagram,
|
but, not to be outdone, 'King Kasparov' smashed down right next to his opponent's king with 23 Nh7!.
|
Belgium's 16-year-old Bart Michiels (who recently achieved his first IM norm) needed only 15 moves to win in Michiels-Van der Burght (G11.26), where Black did not recover from the shock of 12 Bf6!.
|
Another 'white lightning' victory in the Four Knights Opening is Yeo-Pisakov (G11.24), with 11 Nxg5!
|
being a real crusher. However, Black strikes back to stop the (k)nightmare in Acs-Khalifman (G11.25).
Still not had enough yet?! Alright then. Helsen-Akhayan (G3.22) should satisfy even the most active enthusiasts, as the game demonstrates a very vivacious way of meeting the Vienna Gambit.
Now you know what to expect. So, full speed ahead, and enjoy the feast!
Very Best Wishes,
Yours Sincerely,
Paul Motwani.
