Whats Hot?

The idea of defending against 2 b3 with ...b6 is explored in the game Kristof - Magossy.

The game Klasmeier - Wegener shows that despite Black's set up being recommended in a recent book it is not quite so impressive.

An important and brilliant example is Kavelek - Hracek with White playing great, attacking chess.

Star game of the month

The star game of the month is Motwani - Collins from the British Championship where White plays a C3 Sicilian with great attacking grace.

Opening Survey: The Bb5 Sicilian [B52]

This month we consider 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 Bb5+ Bd7 4 Bxd7+ Qxd7 5 c4 Nc6 6 Nc3 Nf6 7 d4 cxd4 8 Nxd4:

The first key game is Zhang Zong-Naiditsch where White eventually triumphs.

Mohr - Sutovsky is a demonstration of how Black can fight back.

Oratovsky - Pallardo Lozoya is a chance for White to demonstrate a main line.

While the recent game Voltolini - Barletta needs a big helping hand from Black before White can win.
