Hero of the Month
Tom Craig Scotland's 41-year-old Tom Craig has certainly proved himself to be a tough chessplayer in over-the-board tussles, and he's doubly dangerous in Correspondence Chess! He won the 1991 Scottish CC Championship, and 1995 brought him the title of Scottish CC Master. Four years further on, his International CC grade reached 2425, Tom's highest-ever level (so far!), and he is presently on the verge of completing all the requirements needed to be awarded a very well-deserved CC IM title. This is indeed an exciting time in Tom's career, because at the moment he's also playing on Board 1 for Scotland in the final of an International Email event, in which one of his opponents is Hungary's super-GM Peter Leko. |
Tom is extremely busy outside of chess too, as his varied work (since qualifying as a Scottish Chartered Accountant in 1982) has taken him into interesting challenging areas such as financial and general management, and he is currently an Operations Director within the Printing Industry.
Although Tom was born in Dumfries, Scotland, on 26 December 1958, he now lives in Oxfordshire, and is a father of Katie (13) and Ashley (11). Somehow he still manages to find time for two more major pastimes: photography and...yes, of course you've guessed it...the world of show dogs!! English Cocker Spaniels are "house companions" at the Craig home, but Tom also has joint ownership of English Springer Spaniels and Chinese Crested Dogs. He has qualified all three breeds for the famous "Crufts" Shows.
OK, after all that canine activity, we should be ready to get our teeth into Tom's annotated game G4.18! GREAT IMAGES COME to the mind of a top Correspondence Chess player...so I encourage you to rearrange the above 15 bold letters to SEE TOM CRAIG GAME!!
