Hi everyone!
Okay, so we kick off this month's update with another of my own games from the recent Southend GM All-Play-All event:

Download PGN of April '09 Dragon Sicilian games

Hebden - Ward is a 9 Bc4 Yugoslav Attack in which White avoided both 10 0-0-0 (to eliminate the Chinese variation) and 10 h4 (because he probably intended the Kb1 and g4 system). So 10 Bb3 it was and ... well I'll let you see for yourself!

Macias Murillo-Fernandez is an entertaining Soltis Variation, whilst Zapata - Magana Echeverria sees more trouble heaped on the ...Qa5 with Kb1 and h4 line:

Away from the standard Yugoslav Attack we have the Accelerated Dragadorf encounter Radovanovic - Baker, which, frankly, I was sorry to see Black lose given the way the game went.

Charbonneau - Perelshteyn essentially turns into a standard 'Improved Classical' i.e. 6 Bc4 although it is via an intriguing move order.

Finally, more depressing news for the Accelerated Dragon, Maroczy Bind, although the notes to Yemelin - Pankov do at least offer Black some hope!

Have a nice day!

Best wishes, Chris
