What's new in June 02?

Well guys it's getting exciting, that is for me as I'm about to go off on my travels to play some chess. Hopefully then I'll have some Dragon encounters of my own or witnessed abroad in Copenhagen or at the British Championship to report soon. Also I'm contemplating taking a look at the 'Chinese variation' (Yugoslav Attack 9 Bc4 Rb8). There is a distinct lack of practical encounters with it so far but stay posted!

All this month's new games, and the ChessPub Guides, are easily downloaded in PGN format using ChessPub.exe, and Download PGN of June '02 Dragon Sicilian games

Okay for this month's entertainment there is:

Smolkov-Shamugia: An old 9 0-0-0 d5 10 Qe1 line in which Black suffers for avoiding the main line.

Cronin-Narayan: I can't believe that there are White players around that still lose 9 Bc4 Yugoslav Attack games like this. What a shame heh!

Kudrin-Aramil: Yes it's the good old ...Qa5 line again with h4 and g4. No black improvements here though I'm afraid although an effort is at least made.

Cabrera-Mafra: An instructive 6 g3 variation with Black happy to play 6...Bg7 instead of the generally recommended 6...Nc6.

Dimovski-Kosintseva: A well played game by Black against the quiet 6 Bc4 line.

Well no real thrills but I've got a good feeling about next month.

Until then

Chris
