Download PGN of March '10 Dragon Sicilian games
This month...
Hector - Mikkelsen sees the Swedish GM trying another (typical for him!) offbeat Sicilian variation this time in the form of a Levenfish with the unusual 7 Nf3:

Neither myself or Gawain believe it but one can't deny the result.
Polgar - Kaidanov sees the novelty 20 Qd2:
|
Yep this ...Re8 Soltis like stuff is getting pretty theoretical these days, and Black players should take note of this encounter from a theme tournament.
Are there any takers for 8 g4 in the Classical?
|
Surely not many, but well there was one in Radulski - Cebalo and another rarity that I guess should be taken seriously.
Svidler - Carlsen: What a player and what a game! See Magnus make mincemeat of his far from weak opponent playing against the old fashioned Classical system his own way.
Mrdja - Armanda: Surely White is going to have to try something else against the Chinese as we feature the same variation that we have been for a while, and with Black still getting on top.
Sedina - Khotenashvili moves us to the realms of the Hyper-Accelerated Dragon, of which this lady bizarrely had rather a lot of this month. A debut on this site for 6 exd5 and being a long way from your typical Dragon position, unlikely to figure here again for a while:

Still, this game adds a certain feel of completion to this line.
Until April, Au Revoir!
